In order to give you the most objective opinion about the SIP Performance, here´s a short excerpt of the Scootering NEWS Test from 18/98:
“This time we´ve got something quite tasty for you: the SIP Performance! SIP handed us one and of course we put it through the paces. The big difference to all other systems we´ve seen is the material used in its construction. Jim Lomas, the exhaust guru, built this baby out of V4A stainless steel. That means you´ll never have a corrosion problem! The brackets are galvanized. The SIP performance can be used with wide tires, advantageous for load distribution. Let´s take a look at the performance diagram:
Bingo Bongo! 18.3 horsepower at 6,840 rpm as well as 19 Nm from 6,200- 6,800 rpm! The characteristics of this exhaust are similar to the PM Evolution, whereby the SIP is a good deal more elastic. The power curve flies through the whole range of revolutions up to the maximum of 18.3 horsepower. At 5,000 rpm there´s still 10.4 horsepower as well as 15 Nm packed in the back tire. Very good for daily street use, very good when doing wheelies down by the bus stop. The SIP Performance impressed us with it´s elasticity, it really stomps on it! Our highway test was also impressive - at 140 km/h maximum. The sound and the material used in construction is worth stealing for....”
We don’t think we can add very much to this, besides that since the test we´ve continued to develop the sysem and now get 1 more horsepo-wer out of it. The test scooter was a standard P200 with a Malossi cylinder. NEW: the jointpipe now is also produced in stainless steel.
Our SIP exhaust systems are made by Jim Lomas. His name insures the highest quality workmanship: the very best steel, clean welding and galvanized brackets. The mufflers are mounted parallel to the ground; they won´t scrape the road when two are riding on the scooter. You can use wide tires with his exhaust systems.
